Interview with Danver’s Book author Sydney Landon

Sydney Landon, whose Danver’s Book series has been in the Top 10 of the Kindle Indie Books chart in recent weeks, talks about her approach to writing and her plans for the future.

Why do you write? Is it something you’ve always done, or always wanted to do? Or is it something that you started fairly recently?

I have always enjoyed writing, but never seriously thought about writing a book. I started Weekends Required as a stress outlet and was actually surprised myself when I realized I had actually written a book.

Tell me a little about your books.

Both of my books are part of the Danvers Series. This series is set in Myrtle Beach South Carolina and centers around a communications company called Danvers International. The first book, Weekends Required features the CEO of Danvers and his assistant Claire Walters. Her best friend Suzy is featured in the second book, Not Planning on You. These are contemporary romance novels with humor and passion.

Are there any authors who inspire you?

Nina Cordoba, Elle Lothlorien and Marie Force

How do you write? Do you make yourself write a certain number of words per day?

I try to write 1000 words per day. Sometimes I take a few days off in between when I’m trying to put a scene together in my head.

Did you try to get a conventional publisher or agent interested before you opted for self-publishing?

No, I went straight to self-publishing

What goals have you set yourself?

I would like to finish the Danvers Series with maybe six books in it and continue to build relationships with all of the readers I have met.

How have you marketed your books?

I mainly use Facebook which has been very successful.

Have you signed up for KDP Select?

Yes, I am a member of KDP Select. I don’t really find that it helps with sales, but I am willing to try it for a while.

Do you worry about Amazon gaining a monopoly in the ebook market?

Not really. Amazon does a lot to help new authors get started and I have certainly benefited from it.

What’s next? Are you working on anything at the moment?

I am currently working on the third book in the Danvers Series called Falling in Love With Me, due out in August/September.

Sydney Landon’s books Weekends Required (Danver’s Book 1) and Not Planning On You (Danver’s Book 2) are available from Amazon. You can also visit her website.
