Alan Averill and Regina Sirois have won the 2012 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. Averill won in the general fiction category for his novel The Beautiful Land, while Sirois won in the young adult fiction category for On Little Wings. Each author gets a publishing contract with Penguin Group (USA) and an advance of $15,000.
Averill’s The Beautiful Land, which we’ve reviewed here, is the story of a young couple whose romance is complicated by a time machine found buried in the desert. On Little Wings, meanwhile, is the story of a young girl’s quest to uncover the truth about her family. You can read our review of On Little Wings here, and also our interview with Regina Sirois.
Thousands of people entered the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award this year, reportedly the largest number of entrants since the award began. The Beautiful Land is now available for pre-order here, with On Little Wings available for pre-order here. Both books were already available from Amazon.
