Japanese author Akae Baku has died at the age of 79. He was best known for his novel Oidipusu no yaiba (Oedipus’s Sword), which won the 1974 Kadokawa Novel Award.
Oedipus’s Sword was Baku’s first novel. He won further acclaim for another successful release, 1984′s Kaikyou (Straits). In the same year, his novel Yakumo ga Koroshita (Yakumo Kills) won the Izumi Kyōka Prize for Literature. Subsequent novels included 1996′s Gijokoku no mori no nagama (View of the Woods in the Playground).
