eFiction launches Kickstarter campaign to fund five new monthly magazines

Doug Lance, editor of eFiction, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the launch of five new monthly magazines. The magazines will cover the Horror, Romance, Noir, Fantasy and Science Fiction genres, and are designed to be “the ultimate genre-specific periodical”.

The Kickstarter campaign aims to raise $5,500 to cover the cost of things like paying writers and copy editors, buying domain names, and purchasing rights. Donors get various rewards, depending on how much they offer, with those who donate $2 receiving free issues of two magazines, all the way up to those who donate $250 receiving a host of benefits. At the time of writing, the campaign has raised $1,585 (28.8%) of its total and there are still three days to go.

eFiction started life a couple of years ago and has quickly grown to become one of the most popular fiction magazines around today. While there are a lot of magazines and sites that will publish work, eFiction is one of the few that’s dedicated to actually paying writers for their contributions.
