Lucy gets drawn further and further into her boss’s murky world in the fourth part of this smash-hit series. Whisked away to the Hamptons, Lucy discovers that someone is planning to kill Jeremiah. Someone is lurking in the background, waiting for the right moment to strike. Suddenly the stakes are raised, and Lucy fears that not everyone will get out alive.
In some ways, Collateral Damage takes some risks by toying with the formula established in the previous three books in this series. The hint of a possible assassination plot threatens to take the saga over the edge in terms of believability. Thankfully, Sara Fawkes keeps things in check and the shark remains unjumped.
In other ways, this is very much business as usual. Lucy is trapped in a world she doesn’t really understand, and Jeremiah continues to stand in her way while also offering her stunning opportunities. There’s some character development here, and a sense that the series is building slowly. It’ll be interesting to see where the Dominated by the Billionaire series goes next.
