It’s no secret that Sony has a new ereader in the works, but as launch-time approaches details are apparently starting to leak out. The PRS-T2 will reportedly have a regular retail price of $129.99 when it launches, and will come with a free Harry Potter ebook, but apparently there might be an early sale that discounts the price to $99.99. Exciting stuff, eh?
The site that initially broke news of the impending launch claims that the main difference between this device and its predecessors is a cosmetic overhaul. If that’s true, there might be some disappointment among users who would have been expecting something more than an 800×600 (non-HD) screen and 2GB of memory. These specs aren’t confirmed, which is just as well since they’re a little underwhelming.
With new Kindle and Nook devices expected soon, and the ever-evolving iPad range continuing to dominate, it’s hard to see an obvious need for a new Sony device. That said, there’s always a need for innovation, so perhaps Sony has something up its sleeve. Other than a free Harry Potter ebook, that is…
