Apple has done the unthinkable: the company is now offering telephone support for authors who use its iBookstore platform. Authors facing problems can now bypass the rather patchy contact form and call (toll-free from the US and Canada) Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm Pacific time.
Most publishing platforms, such as Amazon’s KDP, force authors to use contact forms and email. Although phone numbers can be found, it can be difficult getting through to someone whose job is to field calls and provide answers. Providing such a service to authors obviously costs money, so Apple must have decided that this is one of the ways that they can differentiate themselves from their competitors.
